About the Artist

Adrián Ricardo Gallardo Toledo is a visual contemporary artist from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Born in 2004 he developed a passion for art and creativity from a young age, exploring drawing, storytelling and visual expression. He studied art at La Escuela De Bellas Artes De Carolina (EBAC) and is currently a student at La Escuela De Artes Plásticas y Diseño De Puerto Rico (EAPD). His work explores the mind’s representation of events, memory and social environment, with a particular focus on Puerto Rican identity and culture. Drawing inspiration from street art, comic books, hip-hop, jazz, cinematography and personal experience, Gallardo creates mixed-media works that combine surrealist figures with symbolic elements, constructing a world that reflects both imagination and real-life interactions. He works primarily on paper, exploring collage, painting and mixed-media to create highly detailed compositions.

Gallardo’s practice developed at the shared studio space “802” in Santurce, Puerto Rico, where he engages with the local art scene and exchanges ideas with other artists. He presented a solo exhibition, "The Mind Has It's Own Mythology" (August 28, 2025) at Karlo Andrei Ibarra’s studio on Calle Cerra, Santurce. His work currently reflects on how individuals perceive, feel and respond to events differently while exploring how imagination, memory and social environment shape self-reflection and growth. With recurring and detailed symbolic elements, Adrián Gallardo creates a visual language that connects personal narrative, collective experience, identity and human perception.
